200 days of discomfort
Wishing a very happy THANKSGIVING to my LinkedIn network. Truly blessed to be experiencing this occasion in the US this year. Having a high sense of gratitude today of how this year has gone till now.
About 6 months back, my family and I decided to step outside of our comfort zone and move from Melbourne to Seattle. It was a new country, a new city, a new job, new surroundings for all of us.
Sometimes I wonder, was it a good decision or not but it was a sense of newness that I was looking for!
A few key learnings from my experience:
Having a clear and strong objective that can help you stay resilient and focused no matter what.
Feeling discomfort can be good. It means you are learning about yourself and, most importantly, growing.
Everyday is a new day with new possibilities; following the right process is key to good mental and physical health
Celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Moving to a new country is a big accomplishment, so be sure to celebrate your successes, no matter how small. This will help you stay motivated and positive during the tough times.
These past 200 days have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, but they have been totally worth it on a personal and professional level. I encourage everyone to do something new TODAY! There is no better time than NOW! You might be surprised at what you can achieve.
